Discrimination between the ‘difficult’ points did not relate to the number of person statements which elicited a ‘difficult’ response, nor to the number of skill statements which elicited an ‘easy’ response. It is important to stress this point since we suspected that there may have been a greater likelihood of discrimination if a mother was confining herself to the ‘difficult’ part of the scale across all five person statements.
